The task of the BIPM is to ensure world-wide uniformity of measurements and their traceability to the International System of Units (SI).

BMTA – British Measurement and Testing Association (P)
The BMTA represents the interests of the measurement and testing industry in the UK and in Europe, through its representation on EUROLAB, the voice for laboratories in Europe.
The BMVA provides a national forum for individuals and organisations involved in machine vision, image processing, and pattern recognition in the United Kingdom.
Alignment (metrology) tasks are the responsibility of the Survey Group, part of the Experimental Support and Facilities Division within the Collider-Accelerator Department.
BNL metrologists have good connections to the CMSC (separate listing) via 2019/2020 chairman Mathew Illardo.
